Twitter Weekend, TGIF 1 of 2

Well this weekend actually started sometime around Wednesday December 2nd. I hit up Ray @core_appler to find out if he wanted to try and together for an after work drink and talk about some blogging ideas that we’ve tossed about through twitter, by Friday we had a small group of about five of us, that included myslef Ray, Jayson @JaysonJPhillips, Kim @mskimothy, and Allison @altitudecruise who would end up meeting us later during the second half of the night.

We got together at Yakitori Taisha which is on St Marks Place right off Third Ave.  To say it felt like one of those seedy little places typically found in hollywood flicks, can’t even begin to describe the feel of this place.  I got the feeling that somewhere in the back, you just might find a Poker ring, with people all shirt-less, gambling their childs college tuition and their retirement pension away, or where you go on Christmas Eve to the only place you can find this years edition of tickle me Elmo which sells out everywhere, yet never see anyone who owns one, go figure!  As luck would have it, when being seated, I swear, we walked through the kitchen, all in single file since space was rather limited, to not gambling ring, nor a elmo underground warehouse, but to more seating if you can call it that.  This second eating area consisted of tables, all bout the size of checker boards set about half an inch apart from each other, and short stools that resembled chopped up tree trunks. I sat like a true tourist who had venture into the wrong side of town looking at a menu that honestly, I had wished it didn’t have english subtitles. As everyone ordered I went with a variety deal. Something different was ordered by all and shared equally, which was cool.  After Rey pulled out some Nesquik to accompany his chicken heart, and using a sake shot glass for cold medicine, two hours were spent joking and just talking of the meaning of life. It was decided best to continue our talks at a bar. When leaving we almost had to put on our jackets outside, due to space limitations. I now know why Hollywood uses these small crowed spaces for fighting sequences, but all in all it was a rather fun place to go to.
The second half of the evening was just as fun filled as the first. We were supposed to go to a bar called Cheap Shots, and Allison was to meet us there.  So with some time to kill while waiting for Allison, it was decided to find an atm since Cheap Shots is a cash only bar. We walked from St. Marks street to Ave A and 2nd to find the right ATM, ended up in using Chase. The plan was to walk back to Cheap Shots but end up going to the bar across Chase. Long story short Rey finishes his left over from dinner, Allison joins the festivities in progress, the night started well and end well. Stay tune for as Saturday the twitter meet-up weekends continues.
